A Journey Through Deosai

The adventure begins in Skardu, where a jeep ride takes you through the scenic Satpara Valley. From there, you’ll cross Ali Malik Pass (4,082 meters) and reach the Kala Pani Stream. At this point, you can enjoy an easy hike across flat terrain to Deosai Lake (3,865 meters).

The journey continues over Chachor Pass (4,267 meters) to Tarashing, a small village that serves as the starting point for treks to the Rupal side of Nanga Parbat. You’ll also have the chance to explore nearby areas, like Chungpar Glacier, before moving on.

Day 01-02: Lahore. 217m

Morning arrives Lahore International airport, meet and transfer to hotel where you will take your time to refresh yourself since the long flight make you tired.  Afternoon we will visit the old city, Badshahi Mosque built in 17th century and Lahore Fort, 16th century Ad and drive through the crowded bazars of Lahore, we will have dinner in a very traditional food street in Lahore. Overnight in Smart hotel.

Day 03: Full day excursion Lahore city (217m)

After breakfast we will get ready to explore the cultural city of Pakistan. We will start to visiting Wazir khan mosque, Delhi gate, Lahore Museum, Shalimar garden. Afternoon we will drive to Wagah border where we will Witness the daily flag ceremony at the Pakistani Indian border. You’ve been to the DMZ separating North and South Korea?  Well, we think it hasn’t got anything on this, the tensest border on the planet! With large public supporting their army with singing their national songs. Late in the evening we will drive back to Lahore center and will have a dinner in a traditional Panjabi restaurant. Day 04: Lahore – Islamabad (540m) 6 -7 hrs

After breakfast we drive to Islamabad en-route visit khewra salt mine. khewra salt mine the is the 2nd largest in the world and oldest salt mine in the world we will be guide from the staff and visit the mine. After brief visit of khewra salt mine we continue to  Islamabad. Overnight in Islamabad Hotel.

Day 05: Islamabad to Chilas (1265m) 7-8 hrs /10-11 hrs

After breakfast drive to Chilas through  the scenic Babusar Pass (4000 meters). (Condition) The Babusar pass is depends the time of Year normally beginning of June the road is open for all kind of transport . If not we will use normal KKH to reach  Chilas. The journey will be longer like and fascination in terms of landscape along almighty Indus river.  Overnight in Shangarila hotel Chilas.

Day 06: Fairy meadows. (3300m) 3 hrs drive and 2 hrs walk.

Morning visit the ancient Rock carvings at Chilas long the Indus left &right side of the river. There are more than 50,000 pieces of Buddhist rock art (petroglyphs) and inscriptions all along the Karakoram Highway in Gilgit-Baltistan. The earliest date back to between 5000 and 1000 BC, showing single animals, triangular men and hunting scenes in which the animals sometimes are larger than the hunters. These carvings were pecked into the rocks with stone tools and are covered with a thick patina that proves their age. The carvings were sometimes executed with a sharp chisel. After then we drive to Raikot bridge where we will leave our buses and transfer in  to mountain 4×4 wheel jeeps towards Tato village. It will take  1 hrs 30 minutes till Tato from there we will walk around 2 to 3 hrs to reach Fairy Meadows the most beautiful place in Pakistan, on your front big  wall of ninth highest mountain in the world . Nanga Parbat (8125m). Overnight wooden huts at Fairy Meadows.

Day 07: Fairy Meadows to- Bayle 3650m

After breakfast we will walk toward Bayle camp, which is the last human settlement of people and then the way goes to Base camp of Nanga Parbat 8125m. However, we will walk very slow to enjoy mountains, glacier and forest, at lunch we will be at Bayle camp, where we will check in local wooden huts. Afternoon we will walk around and get us to for high altitude, as next morning we will go to Nanga Parbat base camp. Overnight at Bayle camp.

Day 08: Bayle camp – NP Base camp - Bayle camp . 3650m

Free day to Explore the area, or day excursion to Base camp of Nanga Parbat (8125 m). The biggest mountain wall on earth can be seen from Fairy Meadows. It is also possible to walk till basecamp & afternoon walk back to Fairy Meadows. It will take about 6 to 7 hours to reach the place of departure of the first expeditions in the 1934, there were German expeditions which try to reach the summit but the first success arrived only with German / Austrian expedition in 1953 the first Man who reached the summit was Herman Buhl. We will visit the memorial and afternoon return back to Fairy Meadows.  In the evening enjoy the sun set on Nanga Parbat if the weather allows. Overnight in Fairy Meadows in wooden huts.

Day 09: Bayle camp - Tarishing. 5-6 hrs

Morning we will trek back to Tato and transfer on 4×4 jeeps to KKH where our buses will wait for use to continue our journey for South face of Nanga Parbat Tarishing village. The beautiful mountain village offers many short and day hikes to the base camps of Nanga Parbat, 8125 meters. It is also recommended to see the life of local people how they live their life on high mountains. Overnight in Nanga Parbat hotel.

Day 10: Free day at Tarishing

After breakfast we will trek to Rupal  base camp of Nanga Parbat  or we can walk till the Tarishing summer camp, where we can see the long wall of the Nanga Parbat. Overnight at Tarishing hotel.

Day 11: Tarishing - Skardu. 5-6 hrs

After Breakfast we will drive to Skardu, through the Deosai Plateau (4130 meters) explore the natural beauty and wild life species of Brown Bears and Marmots, huge lakes with migratory birds and hundred kinds of Flower species. After then we drive to Skardu enroute visit the Beautiful Satpara Lake and continue drive to Skardu. Overnight at Concordia   Hotel .

Day 12: Skardu- Khaplu: 2600m 3-4 hrs drive.

Drive to Khaplu along Indus River then Shyok River. Before Partition, Baltistan was divided into 4 kingdoms and some principalities. Skardu, the richest and most important in the centre, Khaplu was controlling. The route to Ladakh, Shigar was opening the Shiok valley to north and Rondo was guarding the Indus gorge to the west. Khaplu Palace was built in 1840 by the Yabgo Raja Daulat Ali Khan of Khaplu after the Dogra of Kashmir who captured the region decided to move the seat of government from the old fort. We will also visit the The Chaqchan Mosque is a mosque in the city of Khaplu, dating from 1370, the mosque is one of the oldest in the region, and dates from the time when the area’s populace converted in masse from Buddhism to Islam. Overnight at Serena heritage hotel or we will use normal tourist classes hotel or guest house in Khaplu.

Day 13: Khaplu -Shigar Valley – Skardu (2500m) 4-6 hrs

After breakfast we will drive to Shigar valley, the Gateway to K-2 (8611 m) the second highest mountain in the world. Visit the 17th century old  Mosque and Shigar Fort and meet the locals and experience the way of life and walk through the small and narrow streets in Shigar valley. In the evening drive back to Skardu. Overnight at Mashabrum hotel.

Day 14: Skardu – Gilgit (1500 m) 6 to 7 hrs.

After breakfast drive to Gilgit, the Gateway to high mountains of Karakoram, Himalaya and Hindukush. The driving is going to be amazing between the narrow tall dry mountains along the Skardu River. It is absolute joyful for adventure lovers. This day is going to be longer drive rather than other days. Overnight in hotel : k2 lodge hotel.

Day 15: Gilgit-Hunza (2500m) 3-4 hrs.

Morning drive to Hunza valley, en-route stop at the Rakaposhi viewpoint to have the magnificent view of Rakaposhi (7788m). After a short brake we will continue to Hunza, where we will be visiting Baltit Fort 700-Year-old and 1100 years old Altit Fort which is an ancient fort at Altit town in the Hunza valley. In the evening we will drive to Duiker view point to have the magnificent sun set view of Rakaposhi (7788 meters) Diran peak (7200 meters) Golden peak and Ultar group of peaks  and many countless peaks can be seen from here. of Hunza Karimabad. Overnight Hunza Embassy hotel Karimabad.

Day 16: Hunza- Gulmit (2500m) 4-5 hrs.

Early morning drive to Gulmit Passu, on our way to Gulmit we will visit the sacred rock sites from 4th century AD Rock carvings on the ancient Silk Road. After we drive to Gulmit a beautiful mountain village in upper Hunza, en route stop to see the, Atta Abad lake and Hussania bridge, Borit Lake, we will have our lunch at lake and after lunch we will drive the the end road where we will walk to visit Gulkin Glacier, it will take 30 mint walk up to glacier. Day 17: Gulmit- Hunza – Gilgit. 4-5 hrs.

After breakfast we will drive to Hunza on our way we will stop at Rakaposhi view point where will be having our lunch break and then continue towards Gilgit. On our way we will visit Chinese Cemetery (Danyor). The cemetery is the final resting place of Chinese workers and engineers who died during the construction of the Karakoram Highway (KKH) in Pakistan in the 1960s and 1970s. After wards we will continue to visit Kargah Buddha is an archaeological site located about 6 miles outside of Gilgit, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. It is a carved image of a large standing Buddha, some 50 feet high, in the cliff-face in Karghah Nala. The carving, which is in a style also found in Baltistan, probably dates to the 7th century. In the evening we will have a dinner in a traditional restaurant.  Overnight in Hotel.

Day 18: Gilgit to Islamabad. 60 minutes flight.

After breakfast we will drive to Gilgit airport and fly to Islamabad. On arrival we will drive to visit Taxila, the impressive Archeological museum and excavated sites of Bhirmond, Sirkap and Julian Buddhist Monastery. After Taxila we will drive to Islamabad check in and relax a bit and later we will have the possibility to walk around the bazars. Overnight in Islamabad  hotel. Day 19: Free day to explore Rawalpindi & Islamabad. Rawalpindi is the 4th largest city of Pakistan, known for its ancient Buddhist heritage. The city was destroyed during the invasion of Mahmud of Ghazni before being taken over by Gakhars in 1493. The bazaars of the old city offer exciting bargains. You can leisurely browse in the quaint old shops in sadder bazaar, Moti bazaar, Raja bazaar and Kashmiri bazaar while Sarafa bazaar is famous for beaten gold and silver jewelry, brass and copper-ware. Numerous shopping bazaars, parks and a cosmopolitan population attract shoppers from all over Pakistan and abroad. At the afternoon we will drive back to Islamabad visit Lok Virsa, Pakistan Monument Museum Faisal Mosque and Daman-e Koh. In the evening we will have farewell dinner together with K2 adventure guide team at Monal restaurant on the top of Margalla hills Overnight in Islamabad hotel.

Day 19: Departure to home.

In the morning transfer to Airport for international flight.
